One of the decorations of Big Yalta is the luxurious palace of the former governor of Moscow, Felix Yusupov. Find out where it is and how to get there, opening hours and ticket prices to the palace.

History of the Yusupov Palace

In the 19th century, the place where the Yusupov Palace is located was owned by Princess Anna Sergeevna Golitsyna. She built a cozy dacha "Pink House" in Crimea and laid out a garden with an area of 16 hectares. In 1909, the famous architect Nikolai Krasnov rebuilt the Crimean possessions for the princely family of the Yusupovs.

Wealthy Felix Yusupov spared no expense and turned the palace near Yalta into a real paradise on earth. After the revolution, the owners emigrated from the Crimea, and their possessions were nationalized.

In the 20th century, they wanted to make the palace a museum several times, but this never happened. It was used as a sanatorium for the heads of the security agencies, members of the Politburo of the CPSU and communist party leaders from around the world. Today the old palace and park belong to the Presidential Property Management Department and are among the most visited monuments in Crimea.
