The lands of Bryansk, as border territories, have often faced military conflicts throughout history. They periodically changed their affiliation, referring to different administrative units. All this affected the safety and sights and, in general, the relevance of the installation of monuments. For this reason, the monuments and sculptures in the city are predominantly post-war. Many of them, including the Mound of Immortality and the Partisan Glade, are dedicated specifically to the events of the Great Patriotic War.

In recent years, the authorities have been trying to revitalize city streets with interesting art objects in order to dilute the military theme, although they are not very far from it. So on the embankment they installed "Katyusha" - a monument to the heroine of the song of the same name, fervently "dancing" against the background of the Desna.
